Career builder? Yes, you are (or, if you aren’t one, you should be). You may not know it but you probably are a career builder, like most other people around you. Career builders are just ordinary people who are reasonably aware and concerned about their own careers. The main factor in a career builder is his or her taking long-term career goals into account when considering any small or big step.

From choosing a college major or sacrificing a holiday to do a language immersion course, to going for further study online or through presential evening courses, or changing jobs, every move made by a career builder is another bit of color in the global picture he or she is painting. Maybe they didn’t have a detailed plan when they were sixteen or twenty, or twenty-five. But they sort of had a general idea of who they wanted to be later in their lives. And every milestone along the way meant a certain steering and advancing towards that. Of course, there are people (though a minority) who are completely careless about that general picture. But it’s never to late to start doing things with a purpose and, if not with a schedule, at least with a broad agenda.
