Veteran educator Carol Shaw is now the subject of admiration in La Habra because of her outstanding performance in the education sector. In fact, being a 25-year old teaching veteran, Shaw is named teacher of the year awardee.

In an interview, Shaw recalled her fourth grade assignment in California as it ignited her love for the Spanish language. As a result of this love she was able to finish a bachelor’s degree at Whittier College leading to a bachelor’s degree. After which, she started teaching Spanish in other colleges as well as in adult schools. The degree also lands her to her first job at the Lowell Joint School District. This is also where she was recruited in while in active participation at her daughter’s school. Just like a teacher in a military school, Shaw also disciplined herself to succeed in life.

Her dedicated efforts in the classrooms were later recognized until she was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award for the Los Angeles County and the Lowell Joint School District. Her dedication to teaching continues to reap her awards after she also became the state’s semifinalist for Teacher of the Year honors.

Shaw said she was deeply honored that at last her efforts paid off after a decade in teaching, and she would not forget the day she received the award because it was a clear manifestation of how she had loved her profession so much. Even some teachers in an online teaching degree school, teachers have all the privileges to develop and make some adjustments but Shaw is exceptional.

Kim Likert, Principal of the El Portal Elementary said Shaw is a very outstanding educator and she deserves the recognition given to her. Likert said kid love Shaw very much as she always brings excitement and happiness to the kids whenever she enters the room.

Likert said Shaw have all the qualities of a very professional educator who really love her profession and values it as part of her whole life. This only shows how dedicated she was to education.

Shaw’s teaching career for more than 20 years is really something that is worth the admiration of those new educators and to those that are planning to join other educators who did not follow what was instructed of them to do.
