MASTER´S PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE YOUR CAREER

Career education may mean an endless set of career training programs, skill courses and other studies, but the main career improvement study that comes to our minds when we consider career advice is represented by the word “master’s”. As a career builder, if you wish to qualify for new career opportunities, perform a full career change or position yourself for advancement opportunities in your current career, then earning your master’s degree will be the best decision you ever make. Why? Employers recognize that professionals with a master’s degree on average perform better on their jobs. Additionally, a masters degree indicates a strong level of commitment and expertise in a specific industry, the level of commitment and expertise that employers desire.

Basics of master’s degrees

A Master's degree is a specialized graduate program that will allow you to gain focused knowledge and vocational expertise in a specific career field. It usually takes 1 to 2 years to complete. Upon completion of your master's degree program (once all credits and requirements of the college have been met) a postgraduate diploma is awarded. In the U.S. the number of credit units required to complete a master's degree usually reaches at least one and a half or two years of full-time study. If you plan to enroll in a part-time program it may take up to 4 years to complete degree depending on the requirements of the university or college you attend and the field you are studying.

Master’s degrees main categories

Full-Time MBA Program: These are normally two-year programs offering opportunities to tailor your learning experience.

Joint Degree Programs: Some schools give you opportunities to earn another professional graduate degree along with your MBA.

Evening and Weekend MBA Program: Featuring the same faculty and flexible curriculum as the full-time program, these options allow students to build their skills without interrupting their careers.

Executive MBA Program: This is normally an 18-24 month program designed for experienced managers seeking an intense professional development. Normally an international element is present, like taking a short part of the course abroad.

Remember that nowadays you may choose to take your master’s program fully as an online degree, or you can attend the chosen university in a way that doesn’t harm your career, as explained above.
